Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a popular Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and god of wisdom. The festival usually lasts 10 days, beginning with the installation of beautifully crafted idols of Ganesha in homes and public pandals, decorated with flowers and lights. Devotees offer sweets, especially modaks, prayers, and bhajans to seek his blessings. Communities come together in joy, music, and cultural performances. On the final day, idols are immersed in rivers or seas with chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya,” symbolizing his return to Mount Kailash and the cycle of creation.
